One man from a suburb of Phoenix has defied astounding odds by purchasing six $1 million winning Powerball tickets.

The man, who has asked to remain anonymous, used the same numbers for each ticket, according to Arizona lottery spokeswoman Karen Bach.

Bach says the man picked up his $6 million in winnings over the course of several visits to the Arizona Lottery’s headquarters in Phoenix

Virginia Fike

A simple mistake led a Virginia woman to win a $1 million Powerball lottery twice on the same day, the Associated Press reports.

When Virginia Fike stepped into the OldeStone Truck Stop & Restaurant in Clear Brook, Va., to run some errands earlier this month, she decided on a whim to buy two lottery tickets. Intending initially to buy one Powerball and one Mega Millions ticket, Fike picked the same set of numbers for both: 5-13-17-20-30.

“I picked numbers based on my parents’ anniversary and their ages at that time, divided by the year they were married,” Fike told the Journal, adding that she loves “jackpot games” and plays when she “can afford it”.

When Fike had paid for the tickets, she realized that she had mistakenly bought two Powerball tickets instead.

“I was like, ‘If I win, I win twice’…so I just went ahead and took the tickets,” Fike told the Northern Virginia Daily.

Incredibly, the 44-year-old from Berryville, Va., was right on the money.

Reaping two times the luck thanks to her fortuitous error, Fike matched every number except the Powerball and clinched the $1 million prize twice — becoming the first person in Virginia to win two $1 million Powerball lottery prizes in the same lottery drawing, the Virginia Lotter

Most days CNN producer Jennifer Hauser spends her time working on news stories.

Today, she’s making the news.

Hauser, who lives in Atlanta, scratched her way to a $1 million win in the Georgia Lottery playing the instant game 50X The Money.

Since this win occurred just three months after she won $100,000 playing a different game, Georgia Lottery Black, it’s not surprising that she didn’t know how to react.

Very Unlucky Lawyer!

This story is about an unlucky lawyer, but a lucky client.

  • 1871: Clement Vallandigham, U.S. Congressman, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while defending a murder suspect in court. Vallandigham was arguing to the court that the victim could have accidentally shot himself while drawing his gun. As Vallandigham was demonstrating with his own gun, which he had believed to be unloaded, it accidentally discharged, killing him.[47]

Not lucky for the lawyer but lucky for the defendant who was then foung not guilty!

Lucky Horse Players

Frank Hayes (1888–1923) was a jockey who, in 1923, suffered a fatal heart attack in the midst of a race at Belmont Park in New York. His horse, Sweet Kiss, finished and won the race with his lifeless body still atop[1] , making him the first, and thus far, only, jockey to win a race after death.

Bad Luck? Or Not?

Is this bad luck? Or Not? What do you think?

According to the Daily Mail, the Swiss gambler was convinced he had won a slot machine jackpot worth $57 million at a casino in Bregenz, Austria. But when he went to claim his prize, casino officials told him the machine had suffered from a software error and should not have awarded the jackpot.

Apparently, though the jackpot alarms went off, the slot machine only showed four matching symbols instead of the required five.

Merlaku was offered $100 and a free meal for his troubles.

He Has All The Luck!

Some people have all the luck! It may not be fair, but that’s the way it is.

Read about this young man below.

The old saying “the rich get richer” aptly describes a recent winner of the Mega Millions jackpot. On a whim, 25-year-old Brian McCarthy of Virginia played the lottery at a grocery store for a shot at $107 million and he won! Even though he hit the jackpot fair and square, people on Twitter are up at arms. That’s because McCarthy is the son of hotel mogul Robert McCarthy, who is the president of Marriott International (and who brings home about $1 million a year). Instead of receiving the cash in 26 annual payments, Brian, who recently graduated from Penn State University, opted for a lump sum of $68.4 million (after taxes).

Lucky Baseball Fan

Let’s get your counter-arguments out of the way first:  No, the left field bleachers at Camden Yards aren’t as packed as they used to be. And Baltimore Orioles pitching has been awful, giving up a worst-in-baseball 144 homers this year.

Still, despite those facts that slightly elevated his odds, the week that young Tim Anderson just posted at Oriole Park is all-time awesome. The 17-year-old high school senior caught three home runs over three consecutive games between the O’s and Chicago White Sox, an effort that landed him on Sports Center’s top plays on Thursday night.

Anderson — who can be found on Twitter — started his spree by running down a Carlos Quentin blast that was rattling around an empty row on Tuesday night. He continued on Wednesday with a nice, in-the-air nab of a homer from Baltimore’s J.J. Hardy(notes).

Anderson’s most impressive play, however, came on Thursday as he jumped high and contended with a few others to grab Alexei Ramirez’s first-inning shot on Thursday.

Longest Craps Roll

While playing craps at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa on Saturday night, Patricia Demauro of Denville set a new record for the longest craps roll by hanging on for Four hours and 18 minutes. Borgata officials said that bested the previous mark of three hours and six minutes, set nearly 20 years ago at a Las Vegas casino.

Demauro bought into a game for $100 at about 8:13 p.m. and quickly amassed a large crowd of cheering supporters. When she eventually “sevened out” around 12:31 a.m., after 154 rolls of the dice, she was greeted by Borgata with a champagne toast.

“This was only my second time playing craps, so this was very exciting for me to be a part of history,” she said
