A free lottery ticket turned into $22 million jackpot for a Toronto Canadian women.

The timing of a Pike County bank robber could hardly have been worse, according to a deputy with the Pike County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputy James Williams said he was in his patrol car in the drive-through at the South Williamson branch of Community Trust Bank when he learned of an alleged attempted robbery Saturday morning.

The unlucky bank robber was arrested walking out the front door.

A San Francisco Giant’s pinch-hitter who does not start many games, had good Luck on his side when he was put in the line-up this evening by the clubs manager.

Unbeknown to this player his younger brother was going to be at the game with some friends. He also is a baseball player at the Air Force Academy which is 70 miles away from where the game was played. He was in Denver with his friends to attend the only game being played by the Giants on their visit to the mile high city. I am sure he thought the most he could hope for was seeing his brother in a cameo appearance as a pinch-hitter, or sitting in the dug out. So imagine his surprise when he heard it announced that his older brother would be in the line up.

He and his fellow cadets choose to sit in the third deck  of right field where only 30 home runs had traveled in the 16-year history of the ball park. No chance of a souvenir there? Well that was not to be! His brother , the defensive minded out fielder receiving an extremely rare opportunity to start the game, hit a gigantic solo home run into the third deck reported to be only 10 feet from his younger brother.

The younger brother,  as luck would have it, miraculously ended up with the home run ball. He showed the ball it to his brother after the game. The slugger was  shocked when shown the home run ball.  He did say he recalls hearing a lot crowd noise from up there.

This story was about 2 very lucky brothers in many ways.

1. The home run was the 2nd longest shot recorded this season. It travel 464 feet.

2. This player has only hit 10 home runs since joining the club 5 years ago.

This unlucky Swedish honeymoon couple live under a black cloud. They most diffidently have bad luck. It all started when they went on vacation and survived 6 natural disasters over a 4 month period. This globetrotting adventure to celebrate their marriage.

While in Munich they found themselves stuck in the snowstorm that blanketed Europe in December. Hoping to escape , they went to Cairns, Australia, where a very serious cyclone forced them into a group shelter with thousands of others seeking refuge. Once they arrived in Brisbane, the flooding put much of of the city underwater.  They said they escaped by the skin of their teeth when in Australia.

Next they were on their way to New Zealand when a 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit just about 2 hours before they got there.

Two days after arriving in Tokyo, a devastating earthquake and tsunami hit, creating huge damage and a nuclear crisis.

When they left the snowstorm behind in Germany, they thought the things surely would get better. They were in love and dreaming of the warm beaches in South East Asia.  However when they arrived in Bali they were meet with a monsoon.

They did have an uneventful stop in China, before heading home.

Meet Bob and his unlucky co-workers. They decided not to spend $2.00 this week and lost their share of 319Million jack pot. Each one would have received close to 20 Million dollars.  Bob said he was just not feeling lucky this time. As it turned out he was right. He and the others were definitely unlucky for not putting in their 2 bucks.

Bob and his 4 co-workers almost always participated in the group buy, but not  on this occasion.

Now talk about lucky! The person who went to buy the tickets was on the way to the counter but stopped to get a candy bar. Well has luck would have it someone walked in front of her and bought a lottery ticket. She purchased the very next tickets for her group. She knows for sure the first ticket out was the winner. Talk about good luck, she had it, but the other person in front of her did not.

On boarding a Carnival cruise ship, one of the first things I do is check out the casino. I always do this, if I’ve never been on a particular ship before. On this occasion my wife and I ran into a fellow and his wife, who look like they were in their late 60s or early 70s. We got to talking as people do aboard ship, and after introducing myself and explaining who I was, and telling him about my website.  He proceeded to tell me that his wife, who was at that moment checking out the slot machines.  He told me she was extremely lucky all the time. He said she usually wins enough to pay for the cruise five times over if not more. Well I of course was excited to see her in action because I know his story could be true.

That night in the casino, as we walked in we  saw the lady and her husband waiting to be paid on a jackpot she had just won for over $3000. I saw her win several more jackpots on other occasions  aboard this ship, which would added up to a tidy sum of money.

One of the port of calls that was on our itinerary was Puerto Rico. My wife and I disembarked to go shopping as we usually do.  On disembarking we noticed a casino right across the street from where the ship was parked. We decided  to take a look inside, and check out the place. Well who do you think we saw standing in front of a slot machine with bells ringing and lights flashing on a super jackpot, if you said the lucky lady you were right.

I could tell you more stories her husband told me about, concerning her winning escapades on gambling riverboats and casinos of all kinds. But I think the repetition would become boring and take away from this true story. I think it is fitting to say she was a lucky lady and probably still is!

The Creator

They say that bad luck comes in threes and that is definitely the way it happened to me in December 2008. I am a writer and for almost two years I’d had my dream job, working from home working my own hours and earning an income that kept growing. Then, two days before my birthday, I got an email saying that the company I was working for would be shutting down within the next couple of months. Bad Luck Number One.

Then, two days later I was at dinner with my wife and son to celebrate my birthday and suddenly I could feel my back go out for no particular reason. I was laid up for the next three weeks and had to cancel a planned trip overseas since I couldn’t walk or sit comfortably. Bad Luck Number Two.

Nine days later, I left the house for a half hour to run  an errand. When I came home, there were Police in front of my house and they told me that my house had been burglarized for the first time since we had moved to California in 1969. Bingo! Bad Luck Number Three
